Interlaken-Fondue, night sledding & views forever!
Interlaken is definitely my favorite trip I have taken so far during my semester abroad.
We booked through Bus 2 Alps, a company specializing in college student travel around Europe. I highly recommend using them! It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to travel to Interlaken because the closest airport is in Zurich which is a distance away and makes the journey very complicated. However, Bus 2 Alps offers direct transportation from Florence to Interlaken which was so convenient! I booked the transportation + hotel package and I got a great deal. They also provide many supervisors who honestly felt like our counselors for the weekend.
We spent Friday exploring the town. Interlaken is super small and you can walk the whole main town area in about 30 minutes. We had brunch at Velo Cafe which was so good and it was packed with study abroad students. That night we enjoyed dinner at Vintage Chuchichästli and we all loved it! We shared cheese fondue (which Interlaken is known for) and chicken schnitzel. Later that night we went to a club called Hangover which was fun!

On Saturday we went jet boating through the tour company, Outdoor. It is a must-do!!! The views were absolutely incredible and our instructor made the whole experience such a thrill. We did spins and zoomed across the water as he told us about the history of the area. Saturday evening we went night sledding- also through Outdoor, and that was amazing as well! We took a gondola to the top of a mountain and then sled down the mountain for an hour. Both activities were definitely scarier than I was expecting, but I would recommend them nonetheless! This was a trip I’ll never forget and I’m so grateful to have experienced Interlaken. You must go when you’re abroad!
